2015 Gawler Show

August 2015

A great day out at the 2015 Gawler Show.

We took a team of Poll Dorsets, White Suffolks and Texels and were rewarded with Most Successful Exhibitor in all 3 breeds.

2015 Gawler Supreme Newbold 564-14In the Poll Dorsets, Newbold ram 564-14 took the eye of the judge in the first class (Ram under 1.5 years). He won that class and went on to win Champion Poll Dorset ram and Supreme Champion Ram. Newbold 564-14 was also in the winning Breeder's Group that went on to win Supreme Breeder's Group.

Poll Dorset judge, John Dawkins, commented that Newbold 564-14 epitomised the type of sheep he was looking for - tall, free-moving rams with the potential to sire flock rams suitable for a range of conditions. In John's travels around the state he has seen an increased use of terminal sires in the pastoral areas where previously there were only Merinos. He felt that the Newbold team of rams were the type of rams that would go on to sire strong and durable rams suitable for those challenging pastoral areas.

The White Suffolks and Texels were judged by Dusty Jones of Radstock Romneys. We were awarded Champion and Reserve Champion White Suffolk Rams as well as the Champion Ewe and Breeder's Group.

The Newbold Texel ram won the Champion Texel ribbon.
