Thank you to all who attended the 72nd Annual Newbold On-Property Sale on Thursday 22nd September and congratulations to all buyers.
Rams met strong demand and producers valued the excellent Lambplan ASBV’s available. It was obvious that Newbold’s breeding emphasis for commercial profit drivers is highly valued by commercial lamb producers. Newbold has continued its success in lamb production classes in the show circuits, this year most notably the winning the Interbreed Championship Lamb Production Pair at the Adelaide Royal Show.
Bill took a small team of 5 rams over to the Australasian Dorset Championships in Bendigo.
We were very pleased to receive 3 ribbons including 2 in the Lambplan Performance Class. Bill was one of the founding members of Lambplan back in the 1980s and it has definitely become a major part of our breeding program.
2nd Prize winner (pictured here with Angela) Newbold 178/15 is an outstanding ram, sired by $31k Meat Elite ram Hillcroft Farms 497/13. Semen packages for this ram are available. Contact Bill for more details.
We also had success in the Dorset Championships Sale - selling rams Newbold 121/15 and Newbold 648/15 to two different Victorian studs.
We are proud to be producing rams and ewes that perform well in the show ring as well as in the paddock.
We once again enjoyed our time at the Adelaide Show. We were very excited to take out another interbreed Lamb Production ribbon winning 1st Interbreed Lamb Production Pair - Trade with our White Suffolk pair (One of the rams - 63/15 - will be offered at our on-property sale on Thursday 22nd September 2016).

The temperature was hot and so were the prices at Newbold’s Poll Dorset & White Suffolk Opportunity Stud Ewe sale last Wednesday 2nd March.
This was our first major mated ewe sale. The loss of leased land prompted the decision to reduce ewe numbers to avoid over-stocking. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all bidders and under-bidders for their support.
The sale drew buyers in from around the state as well as from New South Wales and Western Australia. There were 19 registered bidders, resulting in a clearance of 94 ewes and 15 ewe lambs at a $612 average. Seventeen buyers purchased ewes.
“We very proud of the line-up of ewes on offer today. It was both humbling and exciting to see the number of studs here investing in Newbold genetics.” Bill said.
Thank you to all who attended the 71st Annual Newbold On-Property Sale on Thursday 24th September and congratulations to all buyers.
The impetus as Most Successful Exhibitor at the Adelaide Royal show continued at Newbold’s 71st annual sale. Strong demand was evident from Lot 1 with phone bids coming from interstate. Newbold 108/14 was eventually purchased for $6400 by Tim & John Hedges, Bugle Downs, Keith SA. Tim & John also won another bidding duel for Lot 2, Newbold 564/14. Selling for $7000, N564 was the highest priced ram of the sale. These two rams were the winning Lamb Production pair at this year’s Adelaide Show.
New breeders JM and CC Oswald, Wudinna purchased 4 stud rams, topping with Newbold 72/14 at $3400. Repeat buyer Phyl Hyde, Pt Lincoln, purchased Newbold 621/14 for $2400.
Newbold enjoyed an outstanding showing at the 2015 Royal Adelaide Show bringing home 16 breed ribbons and 2 interbreed ribbons as well as the Most Successful Poll Dorset Exhibitor.
Newbold 97-14 sold to Brenton Lush of the Fairview Hills stud, Inman Valley SA for $5000.
97 was a stand out ram at this year's Adelaide Show winning various ribbons including:
- Interbreed Lamb Production Terminal Breeds Group (Maternal class)
- 2nd Lamb Production Pair - Trade
- 2nd Lambplan Ram
He will be a wonderful addition to the Fairview Hills sire group.
A great day out at the 2015 Gawler Show.
We took a team of Poll Dorsets, White Suffolks and Texels and were rewarded with Most Successful Exhibitor in all 3 breeds.
