Aberdeen “Cracker” 617/16

October 2017

We are pleased to welcome a new ram to our stud sire team purchased at the 2017 Aberdeen annual sale for the top price of $18,000. Aberdeen 617/16 - or Cracker as we have nicknamed him - is a beautifully balanced ram with the Lambplan figures to match including 20.0 for growth, 230 C+ & 145.0 EQ.

Cracker is the son of the well known ram Aberdeen 5/15 who is ranked #2 for Carcase Plus across all Australian Terminal males. His grand sire is also an impressive ram - Aberdeen 16/12 - who boasts over 1000 progeny across 9 studs.

We look forward to seeing Cracker's lambs hit the ground next year.

2016 Dorset Championships

September 2016

2016-adc-lambplan-ram-178-15Bill took a small team of 5 rams over to the Australasian Dorset Championships in Bendigo.

We were very pleased to receive 3 ribbons including 2 in the Lambplan Performance Class. Bill was one of the founding members of Lambplan back in the 1980s and it has definitely become a major part of our breeding program.

2nd Prize winner (pictured here with Angela) Newbold 178/15 is an outstanding ram, sired by $31k Meat Elite ram Hillcroft Farms 497/13. Semen packages for this ram are available. Contact Bill for more details.

We also had success in the Dorset Championships Sale - selling rams Newbold 121/15 and Newbold 648/15 to two different Victorian studs.

We are proud to be producing rams and ewes that perform well in the show ring as well as in the paddock.

2016 Stud Ewe Sale

March 2016

The temperature was hot and so were the prices at Newbold’s Poll Dorset & White Suffolk Opportunity Stud Ewe sale last Wednesday 2nd March.

This was our first major mated ewe sale. The loss of leased land prompted the decision to reduce ewe numbers to avoid over-stocking. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all bidders and under-bidders for their support.

The sale drew buyers in from around the state as well as from New South Wales and Western Australia. There were 19 registered bidders, resulting in a clearance of 94 ewes and 15 ewe lambs at a $612 average. Seventeen buyers purchased ewes.

“We very proud of the line-up of ewes on offer today. It was both humbling and exciting to see the number of studs here investing in Newbold genetics.” Bill said.
